How Dare You!?
A tired office worker kills time on the train home by opening a reading app. She scrolls through yet another novel about some corporate drone who lands inside the book she was reading. Palace intrigue, ancient China, the usual. She skims a few pages of "A Thousand Trees Bloom at Night on the East Side," forgets every word, and promptly gets yanked into that exact world. Bad luck. Worse, she wakes up as Yu Wanyin, the villainess who is supposed to be executed. She remembers the plot well enough to know the heroine falls for Xiaohou Bo, and together they take down the tyrant emperor Xiaohou Dan. Easy: grab the story by the throat and dodge the chopping block. But she is not the only modern person wandering around in costume. The tyrant is a transplant too. So is the female lead, who is convinced she is the chosen one and keeps charging straight at Yu Wanyin and King Duan's crew. All Yu Wanyin wants is for the three of them to ditch the scheming, sit down, play cards, and share a hotpot. Instead she has to scramble to stay alive and somehow keep the Xia dynasty from drying up in a drought. Can three people from the same century stop treating a second-rate novel like a battlefield long enough to save it?
