Nanafa lives in Okinawa with her grandma, who runs a tiny soba shop, plus her older sister Nao and little Kokona. Kokona can sense spirits. That part matters later. One evening, a seal slips off the Chinese banyan tree in their backyard. Just like that, a spirit drops right into Nanafa's arms. Then a second shows up, and a third. Two are jimunaa, little tricksters. The last one is Iina, a walking, talking Okinawan lion statue. They are not the polite, shrine-worthy kind of spirit. Now the house is loud, the soba shop is chaos, and Nanafa's ordinary days are gone for good. More spirits keep coming, one after another, and nobody knows how to send them back. Can a middle schooler, her grandma, and two sisters really keep a lid on a backyard full of unruly spirits?
