Inside the MMO called The World, a usual crowd is killing time in a pub, waiting for a party to kick off. Friends who have not logged in for ages suddenly show up. People who have never met before start talking like they have known each other for years. Drinks, chatter, a few awkward hellos. Then Helba, the hacker, makes her move. She gathers everyone and leads them out of the bar, away from the safe streets, down into the Net Slums. A celebration is waiting there, and not everyone in the group knows what they are walking into. Old rivalries sit right next to fresh friendships, and the people who barely know each other are about to share one strange night. Some came for the party. Some came because Helba asked. So what exactly is waiting for them in the slums, and why did Helba want this particular group together?
