A kid named Dan and his friends shoot dumb videos for ViewTube. Skate tricks, stunts, that kind of thing. Their dog Lightning usually steals the show. Then one day the crew stumbles onto something buried, and suddenly the ground opens up under their feet: biomechanical creatures called Bakugan, built to fight, and each one picks a kid to stick with. So the videos change. Now they are launching these things at each other in the street, and the whole neighborhood wants in. Except not everyone wants to play nice. Local thugs get their hands on Bakugan too, and they are not interested in fair matches. They use them to scare people, to take what they want, to wreck whatever stands in their way. Dan, Shun, Wynton, Lia and Lightning have to step up and defend their block, which is a lot to ask of a group of kids who just wanted to make cool clips. The fights are loud, the creatures are strange, and the neighborhood is not exactly safe anymore. Can five kids and a dog really hold the line against people who only want to burn it all down?
