Arc the Lad
Elk makes his living tracking people down. Bounty hunting, mostly. The world he works in is a strange one: crumbling ruins sit right next to humming machines, and magic is as ordinary as the weather. Beast-masters walk the same streets as gun-toting traders, so nothing much surprises him anymore. Then one rescue changes everything. A young woman and her hulking pet are in trouble, and Elk steps in. It should be a simple job. It is not. The people he just crossed are part of a hidden outfit running illegal experiments, turning human beings into monsters called chimera. Worse, some of those creatures still look human, which means Elk can no longer trust a friendly face or a handshake. Now he is stuck in the middle of a fight he never asked for, picking up allies and making enemies in the same breath. And with something that can wear anyone's skin out there, how is he supposed to know who is actually standing beside him?
