Futaba Ooki just moved from the city to a small town by the sea, and she spends her days photographing everything on her phone like she is keeping some kind of record. One look at the water and something in her goes quiet. What she does not notice is a girl watching her from a distance, already fascinated. That girl is Hikari Kohinata, fifteen years old, and she is basically obsessed with diving. She meets Futaba again the next morning at school, decides on the spot that they are going to be friends, and gives her the nickname Teko. From there it is a tug of war. Hikari drags her new friend into the diving club, where their homeroom teacher Mato Katori runs things and turns out to be a diver herself. Futaba is not sure she belongs anywhere yet. The town moves slower than she is used to, and Hikari moves much, much faster. But bit by bit, between certification lessons and long afternoons by the water, something starts to shift. Can a shy girl who only watches from the shore really learn to jump in?
