Yoshiko Hanabatake fails every test. Not just fails, scores a perfect zero, even when the answers are already printed on the paper. Her head is full of bananas and nothing else. Her own mother gave up on her long ago. Somehow this walking disaster has a childhood friend, Akuru, who studies hard and hits harder. He smacks her skull every time she opens her mouth, and she bounces back grinning like nothing happened. He is not doing it out of love. He might honestly strangle her one day. He just sticks around anyway. Between classes she chews bananas and dreams up fresh stupidity, and he runs damage control like a bodyguard for the whole town. Other weirdos keep drifting into their orbit, and every one of them ends up needing rescue from her. So who exactly is going to survive until graduation: the girl with the empty head, or the poor guy trying to keep her alive?
