Togashi wins every race at school without trying. Sports day, gym class, the hundred-meter dash: he's always first, and after a while the winning stops meaning much. So when Komiya transfers in, a kid who runs with terrible form and finishes last every time, Togashi offers to train him. For one season they're inseparable, two boys chasing the same ten seconds. Then Komiya moves away. No warning, no goodbye. Years go by. Togashi keeps running, still certain that speed solves everything. Komiya keeps running too, only for him it was never about the stopwatch. He runs to escape things at home, and he's turning that stubbornness into something dangerous.
