Mamoru nearly died as a kid, and something called Beatrice pulled him back. Now he goes to the only school in Tokyo where kids are taught to use that same power on purpose, turning willpower into real, visible magic. On his very first morning, a girl stops him under the cherry blossoms and informs him he is her boyfriend now. No question, no explanation. Just like that. Her name is Ayako. She runs the discipline committee, she is a year above him, and she is the granddaughter of a heavyweight politician. She can also knock a satellite out of orbit, which is why everyone whispers Witch Beatrice or Angel of Death when she walks past. Except the girl Mamoru actually meets is nothing like the rumor. She is shy, painfully earnest, and has no idea how to act around a boy she likes. So now he is stuck between a school full of students who can throw lightning at him and a girlfriend whose idea of romance is a direct order. And the whole campus is watching to see what happens to the nobody who somehow got picked. What does Ayako want from him, and what happens when he finally asks?
