Xiao Liang wants nothing more than quiet days in the Floating Light Cave with his master, the immortal Chang'er. Then the demon king Dapeng comes hunting, and the cave stops being a home. Nowhere left to hide. So the timid kid ends up on the road with two strangers: Jiang Cheng, a scholar with a sly grin and a plan for everything, and Chongming, a monk who refuses to bend. The three of them chase a rumor, an immortal's place called Cloud Dwelling, and the road there is brutal. Monsters, near-death scrapes, feelings nobody asked for, friendships tested until they crack. And while they stumble forward, something much bigger is moving in the shadows. Gods, demons, mortals: all of them have a hand in it, and none of it is a coincidence. What exactly is waiting for them at Cloud Dwelling, and who decided they should never reach it?
