Episode 11 · Overtake!

Overtake!

A photo he once published online turned into a storm of harassment, and Kouya Madoka lost his wife, his nerve, and any desire to point a camera at another human being. Now he scrapes by as a freelancer, doing whatever jobs come his way. Then a magazine assignment sends him to Fuji Speedway, and everything shifts. Between roaring engines and the smell of burnt rubber, he watches a high school kid named Haruka Asahina fight for position in the F4 junior class, and something long dead in Madoka sparks back to life. He keeps shooting. When Haruka climbs out of the cockpit in tears after a hard race, Madoka catches that raw moment on film, and on impulse decides to back the boy and his tiny Komaki Motors team, which is running on fumes and duct tape. The bills for tires and engines are monstrous, and Madoka quickly learns that passion alone will not keep a car on the grid. He scrambles for sponsors, argues with mechanics, and puts what little he owns on the line, all so a teenager he barely knows can keep chasing the front of the pack. Two people with nothing in common, bound by one stubborn need to move forward. Can a washed-up photographer really drag an underdog team all the way to the top?
