Episode 1 · Mina

Mina

In the live action drama Densha Otoko, a shy otaku named Yamada has one true love: a cartoon rabbit girl named Mina. Floppy ears, big curves, carrots poking out of her backside. She started as a joke character inside another show, a nod to an old GAINAX short about a nameless bunny girl. Then the gag got its own series. The cutesy mascot is real, and she has powers. Monsters show up, and Mina fights them, still wearing those ears and still firing vegetables. It is loud, silly, and occasionally very rude. So how did a fictional character from a Trainman drama end up saving the world, and who exactly is watching her do it?
