A diamond worth 300 million yen vanishes overnight, and every screen in the city screams the news. Kaito Kuroba, a high school kid with a showman's ego and his late father's tricks up his sleeve, hears it too. He figures he can do what the cops can't: catch the thief. Then he walks into a hidden room in his own house and finds a white suit that looks exactly like Kid the Phantom Thief's. His father died eight years ago under strange circumstances. Now there's an old tape he can't even make out and a costume that fits a little too well. So Kaito puts it on and goes after the Pandora Gem, the one everybody says grants immortality. The men who killed his father want it too, and they are a lot closer than he thinks. Dummies, disguises, a card gun: he has all of it, and not much of a plan. Is his father still alive somewhere, or is someone else wearing that face? And why does every stolen jewel lead back to the same buried question?
