![Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]](/uploads/anime/22297/p-sm.webp)

Suzuko moves back to Ikebukuro, the town where she grew up, and she can't stop thinking about Chinatsu, the friend she promised everything to as a kid. They lost touch years ago. So Suzuko starts fresh at a new school, hoping to fit in, and when that goes badly she picks up the card game everyone's playing. She buys a starter deck on the way home. Opens it at her desk. One of the cards moves. Talks to her. It explains the rules: certain players get chosen as Selectors, and their memories get turned into five gold coins. Win all five back and you walk away free. Lose them, or sit out too many duels, and something called Lostorage comes for you. That's the trap. Suzuko isn't the only one holding cards. Across town, Chinatsu is pulling double shifts to keep her family afloat while her grades slip, and the pressure is crushing her. She got picked too. The two of them wanted to meet again for years, and now they're on opposite sides of a game that eats memories, guided by avatars built from the very things they're fighting to keep. Neither knows the other is in it yet. Every duel costs a piece of who you are. Can two friends who barely recognize themselves anymore save each other, or will one of them have to win?
