Seven shorts, seven directors, and zero rules. A monster trudges off to school. A man can't stand the sight of himself. A kid runs straight into the hard lesson of life and death. Studio 4°C let some of Japan's sharpest animators loose, and what came back swings from tender to flat-out strange: a Shanghai dragon, a doorbell that won't quit, a machine built for happiness, a boy and a girl and one last day together. Then the ground shifts under you. What starts as a cute romp turns into something colder, and the movie keeps changing shape before you can settle in. Deathtic 4 brings a corpse back to life and lets the chase begin. Limit Cycle locks a man inside his own endless loop of thought. Music, mecha, romance, dread: it's all here, stitched together by nothing but nerve. Each short ends and a new one begins, and you never know which version of the party you're walking into next. So who exactly is throwing this thing, and are you sure you want to stay till the last one?
