Fairies live inside animals in this world, and that alone would be strange enough. But people figured out how to rip out the organs of a possessed creature and stitch them into a human body. After that, the fairy answers when called, stepping out as a second self, a weapon with a face. The ones who carried them into battle got a name: Fairy Soldiers. Then the war ended. Nine years later, the guns are quiet but nobody has really moved on. Some soldiers took government posts, some drifted into the mafia, and plenty turned to bombs and blood, settling scores with the state that used them up. Enter Mariya, a fresh recruit at Dorothea, an outfit that hunts fairy crimes. Her first days on the job put her face to face with the wreckage of a conflict she never fought in. So what happens when the people you are supposed to arrest are the same people who kept you alive on the front lines?
