Ino Sakura arrives in Tokyo with a suitcase and a dream, ready to join Fruit Tart, a brand new idol group. Her new bandmates are Roko, a child actress nobody hires anymore, Hayu, a musician whose songs never took off, and Nina, a model still waiting on her very first job. Home is the Mouse House, a creaky dorm where former idols once lived. Then the girls learn the truth: the group is already one hundred million yen in debt, and it has not even performed once. The plan is simple and brutal. If they do not pay the money back, Fruit Tart disbands and the Mouse House gets torn down. So they start from the very bottom of idol society, writing their own songs, chasing tiny gigs, learning what it costs to be noticed. Out of nowhere, a veteran idol named Hemo Midori shows up. She is a huge fan of Sakura, and she wants in. That helps. It does not erase the debt. Now four rookies and one veteran are scrambling to make a name for themselves before the wrecking ball arrives, and every day is supposed to be fun. How long can you keep smiling when the clock is counting down and the bill keeps growing?
