Daisuke Niwa is a klutz with zero game. On his fourteenth birthday he finally works up the nerve to tell Risa Harada he likes her, and she shuts him down cold. Then his body does something strange. Every time his thoughts drift back to her, he turns into Dark, a legendary phantom thief with wings and a whole lot of attitude. His own mother knows exactly what is happening, and she has been waiting for this day since before he was born. She wants him stealing priceless paintings and keeping the Dark name alive. So now this awkward kid is sneaking across rooftops at night, pulled into heists he never asked for, while by day he can barely hold a conversation at school. His relationships are a mess. Then he starts to notice that his classmate Satoshi Hiwatari is hiding something too, some family legacy of his own. And the worst part? The person standing in his way, the one he is supposed to fight, might be the last person he wants to hurt. Can Daisuke keep his feelings for Risa from triggering the thief inside him, or is he already in too deep to stop?
