A century ago, Tian Quan cut down the Mirage Lord in a single battle, and the Mirage Spirit vanished from Cangshuo. The cost? Her soul cracked. The memory of that fight, gone. Now she lives among mortals, tending the land, with a pet bird named Li Xiao. Then the bird turns into a man. Same face, same small gestures as Shao Weili, the lover she buried. She keeps him close. He can name a hundred herbs by sight, so she sends him out to heal the sick in her name. Days pass. He doesn't come home. She tracks him to Luoyi Town and finds corpses in every house. Nobody left alive. And the Mirage Spirit is back. Together they beat it down and save what's left of the town. But the memories start leaking back, and the pieces don't fit the way she thought. What does her dead lover have to do with the bird in her house, and with the thing she killed a hundred years ago?
