You know those moments from the games. The ones you mashed through as a kid because you wanted to get back to the battles. Pokémon Generations pulls them out and shows them from the other side: a Team Rocket grunt sweating in a dark hallway, a Champion staring down a kid who somehow made it this far, a legendary waking up angry. Then the camera shifts. One episode it is Red and Blue, the next you are in Hoenn or Kalos, and the rules change. No single hero holds the whole thing together. Some episodes are three minutes of pure dread. Others land like a punch to the gut, because you already know how the fight ends but not what it cost. What exactly happens in the rooms the player never gets to see?
