Episode 21 · Le Chevalier D'Eon

Le Chevalier D'Eon

A coffin drifts down the Seine, and inside it lies Lia de Beaumont, a spy for Louis XV. Her brother D'Eon has just been knighted. Now he stands over her body and wants names. People keep vanishing across Paris, so he joins the secret police to chase the men who killed her. The trail points somewhere ugly: French and Russian nobles, a cult pulling strings, disappearances that were never random. Lia must have learned too much on her last mission. Then the night comes to arrest the Duke of Orleans, and one of the officers turns into a demon called a Gargoyle and cuts the squad down. D'Eon rushes in to save the only survivor and finds the man already changed. During the fight, something inside D'Eon gives way. His sister's soul takes hold of his body, and Lia kills the Gargoyle herself. She is not finished. Not even close. So the knight becomes the vessel. He needs allies, and fast, because this conspiracy runs deeper than any of them guessed. What happens when the one directing your revenge is the person you are avenging?
