Haru rides through a city that keeps telling her to sit still, speak softer, be someone else. She never listens. Then she rolls past a vending machine and a man named T.K. who just sits there, waiting for somebody to show up. He says he has been waiting a long time. The two of them start talking, and it turns out T.K. is not waiting for a person at all. What he is actually waiting for pulls Haru into something she never signed up for, something that reaches far past the street corner and the hum of the machine.
