A young man dies of an illness he was born with. Then he opens his eyes somewhere else entirely: ancient times, before the war for godhood, in a body that can practice qi. Li Changshou learns fast that immortality is not handed out here. It is taken, and the ones who reach for it usually die. So he does the opposite of everything a hero should. He keeps his head down, picks his fights by weighing every angle first, and trains in the least glamorous skills he can find: running away, and brewing poison into pills. His plan is simple. Survive, stay unnoticed, live forever. Then his master walks in with a new junior sister, and the quiet life Li Changshou built starts falling apart around him. Adventures he never asked for keep dragging him out of the shadows, and while he usually looks completely unbothered by any of it, the few times he actually moves, the ground shakes. Can a man who spent his whole second life preparing to flee ever stand his ground when the people near him are the ones in danger?
